5 out of 5 stars Unfairly Maligned   July 10, 2006

I base my rating of a story on whether or not I was entertained, and if what I just watched left me with a good feeling. This story accomplishes both. I find it hysterical that critics of Doctor Who stories use lack of realism as an argument, as if someone traveling through space and time in a police box is realistic! Cheap sets? Use your imagination. We all have it; it's just that some of us know how to utilize it better than others. Revenge Of The Cyberman is one of the better stories of Tom Baker's first season as the Doctor, certainly better than the "classic" that preceded it.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best Cyberman stories.   March 23, 2000

The Doctor and his companions return from Skaro after 'Genesis of the Daleks' to Nerva Beacon, which is in isolation due to a mysterious plague. Before long the remains of the Cyberman army is on the scene.

This is a well-written and interesting story - it is here that we discover the effect gold has on the Cybermen, who are at their menacing best. The characters are well-thought-out, there are some memorable scenes, the cybermats are finally creepy rather than comical and there is a nice doom-laden soundtrack. Seeing the Doctor arriving in the past of a location he visited in a previous story is also an interesting idea.

5 out of 5 stars The Cybermen return in style.   April 30, 1999

I don't know how certain sci-fi magazines can write this off as a turkey and yet give laughable garbage like 'Nightmare of Eden' an A+. 'Revenge of the Cybermen' is one of the very best Cybermen stories I've seen. It's a follow-up to 'Ark in Space', in which the Doctor and companions arrive in Nerva Beacon many years before the Wirrrn incident. They find the ark in quarantine, bodies of a 'plague' filling the corridors. t soon turns out that the plague is the work of the Cybermen, who intend to destroy the remains of a planet made of gold, which is lethal to them.

Unmissable and highly entertaining sci-fi action with Tom Baker at his best.

5 out of 5 stars A classic!   October 15, 1998
This story features the best of everything that the series ever was. An enjoying tale from begining to end. In my opinion one of the best Cybermen episodes. Well worth adding to any collection. END

5 out of 5 stars HARRY SULLIVAN IS AN IMBECILE!!!   August 16, 2010

These immortal words and seeing The Doctor pelted with styrofoam rocks alone makes this episode worth watching.
True the Cybermats are goofy and the episode is a bit slow moving at times, but it's a must for serious fans of the 4th Doctor and fan favorite companions Sarah Jane Smith and Harry Sullivan.
